ABOUT DAVID

David is a graphic designer and illustrator residing in Super Natural Vancouver, Canada. He began his professional career in science, after he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia. He was employed as a Research Associate in the field of Biotechnology, performing laboratory research in the development of therapeutic pharmaceuticals. During this time, he was introduced to the field of Graphic Design, which he found to be an optimal blend of creative expression and practical application. Deciding to follow his new passion, he enrolled in the Digital Design program at the Vancouver Film School(VFS). It was at VFS that he was able to combine his interest in design history and theory with a practical education of industry skills and techniques, graduating with Honours in 2007. While studying at VFS, David was recruited as the Associate Project Manager for the Adobe Real Ideas Studio, a collaborative project developed at VFS for Adobe. His work was also recognized at the 2007 Adobe Design Achievement Awards, where his work “Anatomy” was selected as a Semi-Finalist in the Motion Graphics category.

In 2007, David co-founded Normal Design Inc. His role as Director & Designer required him to oversee, direct and produce all aspects in the creative process, from client relations to concept development to design production, for a variety of print, interactive and motion graphics projects. During his time at Normal Design, David was able to work with many different organizations including Tribal DDB Canada, Canadian Toursim Commission, Sarah McLachlan Foundation and the Vancouver Art Gallery. David left Normal in 2009 to pursue full time freelance contracts.

David is currently a creative and versatile graphic designer that specializes in motion graphics and illustration. He works with companies and organizations, both nationally and internationally, to help them communicate their products, concepts or brand to their target market by producing concept oriented graphic design solutions. He thrives in both independent and team-oriented environments; he has experience producing design projects from concept through production to completion or can be hired to work on a specific area of a project.
